Balconies,
decks and the spacious garden provide plenty of areas from which to appreciate the
stunning views over the Rhone Valley, the Matterhorn, the
Dente Banche and the Grande Dixence Dam. The
chalet is a great spot to sunbath, relax and unwind.
Other
activities:
The 4 Valleys and the surrounding
mountains offer an incredible diversity of hiking trails for any different
level and duration - from easy walks along one the beautiful ancient
bisses
to the famous
Haute Route, a challenging 5 day (ski) tour for very experienced mountaineers.
Start right from our chalet or have an endless choice within one hour by car.
If you are looking for a guided tour,
ice climbing or anything special event, we recommend
Snow Rock, a training center for mountain sports in Sion that also offers
professional equipment.
With over 200kms of trails and its
downhill mountain bike parks, the 4 Valleys is definitely a great place to bike.
There are some serious downhill tracks running down the slopes only suitable
for speedsters and hardcore downhillers. If you prefer to take life at a more
leisurely pace then there's plenty of mountain biking that is suitable for
families and/or individuals who want to discover the 4 Valleys with its
villages without having to furiously pedal uphill or kit up in full body
armour. If you're not sure where to head and which trails would be best for
you, then during the summer months, the Tourist Offices run two free guided
bike tours around the area. There are several sport shops in offering Mountain
bikes and protection kit for rent or sale. (In French, mountain biking is
called VTT (Vélo tout-terrain!). For further information see
Verbiernet.com. When it gets really hot in summer there is nothing better than
going for a swim after or instead of hiking. There are a number of lakes nearby
Sion (around 25 min. by car from our chalet), such as
Les Iles, which has also indoor and outdoor facilities, restaurants, a
playground and mini-golf. Alternatively, the Rhone Valley has a number of
beautiful thermal springs where you can dive into the water. The grown ups can
also enjoy their wellness and spa treatments while water slides and paddling
pools make the little ones happy.
The Valaisans have a multitude of local
traditions and festivals which take place throughout the spring and summer
months: the famous Combat des Reines (a natural cow fight) is a memorable and
enchanting experience. Montreux has the most famous Jazz festival but there are
many more festivals in the region that are worthwhile to explore. See the official
website of the Vallais or
myswitzerland.com for more information.
